inGrained Heritage Collection Ring
Two of my three favourite films were released in 1994, just 3 years after I was born. These films are Forrest Gump and Shawshank Redemption. Well I can't find wood from Forrest's bench (yet.. I'm trying), but I have been fortunate enough to obtain wood from the famous Shawshank Redemption Oak Tree.
The tree was a white oak in Ohio near Malabar Farm State Park, described as one of the most iconic trees in cinema history, academy award winner Red (Morgan Freeman) searches it out in the closing scenes of the film, on the instructions of his prison friend Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins). He is told that below it he will find a piece of black volcanic rock that has no earthly business being there, with this rock is something Andy would like him to have. Red finds the tree, the rock and the letter from Andy, the tree became iconic.
On July 29, 2011, half of the tree fell due to trunk rot from ants after being hit by lightning. The tree was further damaged in July 2016 due to strong winds. The remaining portions of the tree were cut down on April 9, 2017, by the property's owner, Dan Dees. Dan chose to sell off portions of the tree so people could make memorabilia from it, I am delighted to be able to offer rings made from this iconic oak.
The ring is lined with white oak, the outer of the ring is made from the Shawshank Tree Oak, and features an inlay of black volcanic glass in tribute to the film. The wood and glass are seperated by a stainless steel wire, representing Andy's hardened steel rock hammer he keeps throughout the film.
The ring will come with its own certificate of authenticity
