There are few aircraft in the history of aviation more recogniseable and iconic than the supermarine spitfire. It's iconic silhouette, sound and graceful manouvering in the sky made it a symbol of strength, hope and victory during WW2.

This heritage ring is formed from propeller wood taken directly from one of the most celebrated spitfires of WW2, spitfire BR601 was built in Southampton in 1942 and over the course of the war flown in a number of squadrons and by many pilots. BR601 is fully restored and still flying today.

Two of these pilots became Aces, Tony Gaze an Australian pilot credited with 12.5 victories over enemy aircraft. He later became a racing driver and was the first Australian to compete in a Formula 1 race.

The other Ace was Colin Gray, the most successful WW2 pilot from New Zealand, credited with 27.5 victories over the course of the war.

The two Brass inlays running through the propeller wood symbolise the fury of the Spitfire, it's unmistakable firepower and the brass ammunition it carried.

The inner liner of the ring is formed from birch wood, to match the wood the original propellers were made from. 

The ring will come complete with a certicate authenticating that it is made using genuine propeller wood from Spitfire BR601.
